A different kind of sequence
A few details help explain this feature. The tableau has seven columns. Moves build down in the same suit rather than allowing cross-suit destinations. Scorpion on cs3q.com uses one 52-card deck with four suits. Four complete King-to-Ace runs clear the game.
The initial seven columns
Keep these points in mind. The first three cards in each of the first four columns are face down. Each opening column contains seven cards for a total of 49 tableau cards. Three cards remain in the stock. All cards in the last three columns are face up.
Build in the same suit
A few details help explain this feature. A seven of hearts cannot land on an eight of spades. A seven of hearts can land on an exposed eight of hearts. A King cannot land on another card because no higher rank exists. A moved group's leading card must land on a card exactly one rank higher in the same suit.
Move exposed groups
A few details help explain this feature. The selected cards do not need to descend in rank to travel together. The leading selected card still has to meet the destination rule. Any face-up card can be selected together with every card beneath it. The selected cards do not need to share a suit to travel together.
The empty-column rule
A few details help explain this feature. An empty column accepts a King or a group led by a King. An empty column is therefore less flexible than an empty column in ordinary Spider. A group led by a lower rank cannot enter an empty column. Cards beneath a moved King do not need to be in sequence.
Uncover another choice
A few details help explain this feature. An exposed card can carry the cards beneath it when its own destination is legal. Removing all face-up cards above a hidden card turns that hidden card face up. The next hidden card is revealed automatically. Undo restores the earlier hidden-card arrangement when the move is reversed.
Use the stock once
Here are the details for this mode. This Scorpion version permits its stock deal when columns are empty. Dealing places a face-up card on each of the first three columns. There are no further stock cards after the three-card deal. The stock contains one final deal of three cards.
Collect ordered runs
All thirteen cards in a collected run must be face up. A completed run must descend from King to Ace in one suit. The game removes a qualifying run automatically from the bottom of a column. Moving an unordered group does not make that group a completed sequence.
Practice Scorpion decisions
Here are the details for this mode. A move can carry unwanted cards along with a useful leading card. Checking the whole moved group helps you anticipate what will become blocked. Replay and Undo let you explore another approach to the same layout. Hint lists legal choices without promising a winning continuation.
Your separate local record
A few details help explain this feature. My Statistics records Scorpion starts and wins separately from other variants. Scorpion keeps a separate saved position when game saving is enabled. Random Scorpion shuffles are not advertised as guaranteed winnable. Privacy & Cookie Settings lets you remove local saved games and results.
